ABOUT VICKI
I work with high-performance athletes and top professionals, to help them reach their full potential as a performer and a person. I also work with those who have a true desire to improve their mental health and well being through psychotherapy – bringing over 30 years of experience and success as a high-level athlete and coach, and diverse experiences and training as a psychotherapist.
Sports & Coaching Background
I have been a tennis professional for over 30 years, and served as Director of Tennis for 10 years at a popular country club in Northern Virginia, with a P.T.R. Tennis Professional certification of the highest level. My coaching career focused on students at the high school, sectional and national levels. I attended college on a full tennis scholarship, competed professionally in WTA tour events, and have held/hold numerous sectional and national tennis ranking. In high school I competed in numerous varsity-level sports, including boys tennis; co-ed indoor track; girl's field hockey, softball, and basketball. I was also an accomplished equestrian, and regionally USPC competitor. I continue to enjoy competing in tennis events nationally, as well as participating in a variety or other sports for recreation.
Psychotherapy Background
I have experience providing psychotherapy, crisis intervention and substance abuse counseling for a diverse caseload. I have counseled adults, adolescents and children – in private, group, and family environments. I utilize a variety of therapeutic techniques and draw especially from Cognitive-Behavioral , Gestalt , and Solution-Focused therapy models. My clinical experience encompasses intake assessment; diagnosis; treatment planning; case management; prevention education; accessing and coordinating county/community resources ; and providing client advocacy.
Professional Credentials
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a National Certified Counselor (NCC) with a BS in education, with a specialization in Sports Management and Psychology (George Mason University); MA in Psychology Counseling (Marymount University); and post-graduate work in Psychology (Johns Hopkins University and Marymount University).
